A video breastfeeding manual

Dr. Patricia Barrios has recently published a informative video which summarizes some of the practices and reasons why she advocates breastfeeding as a breastfeeding and training manual basic which then allows you to search for complementary information.

He explains that if there is no unnecessary institutional interference or medication that makes contact difficult during childbirth and the subsequent sensory period, breastfeeding is more likely to get ahead and last even longer.

Recommends to know in depth the physiological mechanisms of breastfeeding, in which suction and production are closely linked, to understand them well and not cause a possible decrease in the amount of milk by reducing or preventing breastfeeding on demand.

He also considers it important that mothers should be taught a correct placement in the breast and that milk should be extracted if necessary. Show graphically, with simple explanatory drawings, the best positions to breastfeed and how to get a simple milk extraction.

He reviews the breast milk components and exposes its functions in the development and protection of the baby. He explains that milk serves as food (vitamins, lactose, fats), as a bioactive element (polyamines, hormones and nucleotides), as a building element (minerals, proteins and omega AGs), as a defense (macrophages, Ig A, lymphocytes) and which can also help communication between the mother and the baby, serving as a vehicle of bond and attachment.

It also recommends that the WHO, UNICEF and IBFAN documents on breastfeeding be accessed in order to expand the basic information offered in this document.

Dr. Patricia Barrios is an IBFAN Argentina member of the LACMAT Foundation, of the Breastfeeding Subcommittee of the Argentine Pediatric Society, as well as other activities related to the training and promotion of breastfeeding in Buenos Aires.

With the video, Dr. Barrios, intends to encourage her colleagues so that in all hospitals they train and organize breastfeeding centers but it also makes a very useful review for mothers who decide to breastfeed their children.
