A professional dancer shares her photo to show how her belly really looks after childbirth

Perhaps out of curiosity or by simple bad habit of society and advertising media, a woman's body after childbirth is always a topic of conversation. We often see images of celebrities on magazine covers that they presume a dream body after only a couple of weeks of giving birth, accompanied by an interview telling all his secrets and magic recipes to recover his figure before pregnancy almost immediately.

But these images and testimonies are far removed from the reality of most women They have had children. The recovery process after childbirth is slow and the belly does not disappear by magic. In most cases, some of us leave the hospital with our babies next door, but because of the size of our belly it seems that we are still pregnant.

I have heard of cases in which women have met friends after giving birth and these, seeing the belly, tell them confused that they thought their children were already born. It is certainly an innocent comment but can hurt self esteem of a woman during quarantine.

That's why a photo that the professional model and dancer Peta Murgatroyd shared on her Instagram account has gone viral and caused thousands of positive reactions from the mothers, who thank her for showing a real and not the typical image "look how good I've been after having my baby".

Real life: I took this photo 8 days post birth. I left the hospital looking 5 months pregnant. Many people think a woman should shrink right back to her pre-birth weight immediately. That is just not the truth for most. The female body is incredible and resilient, but healing and strengthening take time. Now it's time for patience and hard work. Lots of love to all the new mamas out there on the journey. #yesihaveascrunchieinmyhair #shaiiswortheverypound

In its publication, which already has more than 90,000 likes, thousands of women have responded by applauding her photograph and message, many sharing even their own testimonies about their positive and negative experiences, as well as the real time it took to stop looking like they were still pregnant.

It's always good to see how models, dancers, singers and actresses share realistic testimonies of maternal life, either a photograph breastfeeding to normalize breastfeeding or tell their battle with postpartum depression, a problem that many women suffer in silence. Being celebrities manage to have a greater impact and they help raise awareness and normalize these issues that many mothers live but rarely talked about.
