"The birth of the head": shocking series of photos of childbirth when only the baby's head has left

One of the most incredible moments of a birth, which already is an unforgettable moment, is one in which the baby's head comes out and there is a pause. Is "the birth of the head", the first test of the baby, the moment in which a good time of effort culminates in going through the birth canal and, finally, seeing the world.

After leaving the head, the delivery stops a few moments in which the body rotates so that the shoulders can also leave, and with them the rest of the body. A photographer, Marry Fermont, responsible for Fermont Fotografie, decided to immortalize that curious moment in a shocking series of photos of childbirth, just with my head out.

The result is very curious, very beautiful. It is the precise moment of the beginning of life and a time at once distressing, because it is still the beginning of something that has not yet happened: the baby has not left completely and the delivery is not over yet.

Marry decided to take this series of photos when, in 2012, she found herself in a curious birth. The baby poked his head and with it came part of the umbilical cord. The midwife did not see how to remove the circular cord from the neck and decided to cut it at that moment, before the baby left completely. That gave him time to photograph that moment and, when he hung up the photo, an intense debate began about how the midwife had acted.

All this made Marry end up taking love of the photo, for being such a special, intense and controversial moment, and ending the series "The birth of the head", with photos of both vaginal deliveries and cesarean deliveries.
